Essential Care for Accessories

Hi, Welcome to Rinnseki 1st blog entry on Care for Accessories!

Rinn has been thinking on what to write for this very 1st entry. While cleaning and organizing my accessories last night, I suddenly have the urge to show you the magic of Silver Polish Cloth! Laughing Silver polishing cloths are coated with silver polishing agents and tarnish inhibitors that gently remove tarnish and other dull areas from silver, white gold, platinum, and even alloy plated accessories. It leaves behind an anti-tarnish treatment so that the silver remains shiny and beautiful. Sounds incredible, and yet they are not expensive!

This is the silver polish cloth that I used frequently. It gently removes dirt, make-up, dead skin, body sebum and finger prints that gets on your jewelry.

The cloth is made from 100% cotton flannel cloth, which will not scratch or harm your finest jewelry. It can also be used for cleaning spectacles, watches and musical instruments.

The photograph below is a earring which I have not worn for years. Very tarnished-looking...

After cleaning with the silver cloth, Da-da! This is the result - Shiny surfaces!

And this is how the cloth looks like after cleaning. You can use this silver polish cloth until it is completely black!

Another example, my precious necklace looking really dull.

After polishing using the magical silver cloth, I decided to try a silver cleaning solution which I recently bought.
I am supposed to put my accessories into the solution directly and soaked for 10 seconds. Make sure you wear a pair of gloves as the solution is a little corrosive to the hands, so be extra careful!

In order to show you how it looks like, I actually pour out the solution into a container. You will observe a little groups of bubbles emerging... not significant though.

Next, is to rinse the necklace with water thoroughly before drying it with a hair dryer.

Finally... its glowing and shining again! Maybe not obvious on the photo, but it is! Note: They are not being photoshop.

My two-cent worth:
I think silver polish cloth is sufficent in routine cleaning of accessories to keep them in tip-top condition. The silver cleaning solution, however, is effective to a certain extent, for those who need an additional tool to help removing stubborn tarnish. I do find it a little troublesome to use this solution... Note: Some articles did mention that for fine sterling jewelry, it is not recommeded to soak them in chemicals as it can cause long term damage to the silver. Silver polish cloth is the better option.

Silver polish cloth is available in Rinnseki.com and it is complimentary with every members' purchase! While stock last!

All the best in keeping ever-shiny accessories, be it silver/gold-plated or fine sterling silver!Wink
